SUMMARY:Linda Ballard - Caribbean Stars
DESCRIPTION:Caribbean Stars is a fun quilt to make that only requires two fabrics\, one light and one dark. The striking difference between the two colors really pops with her carefree Caribbean pattern. Linda will be providing you with two different sizes to choose from. You can make a smaller\, squared quilt (52” x 52”) or a Lap quilt (52” x 72”).  All students will receive Linda’s pattern\, which is covered in the price of the class. \nClass fee is $50.00 for MSQG Guild Members if paid by August 10\, 2026 and $55.00 thereafter. Class fee for non-members is $60.00 if paid by August 10\, 2026 and $65.00 thereafter. Space is limited. Class will be held at the Live Oak Grange (120 Gardiner Street\, Rogue River\, OR).  The class requirements list will be provided after you sign up for the class. \nTo Register:  You can obtain the registration form (with pricing information) by clicking here.  Just print and complete the form then mail it along with your payment to the address on the form. Your payment MUST accompany your registration. \nBeing an avid seamstress all her life\, Linda has taken her skills from dressmaking to creating wonderful traditional quilts using today’s faster techniques and tools. She believes there’s always something for everyone when it comes to quilting\, and that quilters have a strong bond unlike anything else. Linda has been featured in a variety of quilting magazines with her quilts and has had the privilege of being on Simply Quilts in two different seasons. Linda was a quilt shop owner in Redding\, CA and now travels throughout the country teaching both on land and sea and is known for her quilting retreats!

SUMMARY:General Membership Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our General Membership Meeting on Saturday\, September 12th\, 9:30AM to approximately 1:00PM. The meeting will be at the Live Oak Grange\, 120 Gardiner Street\, Rogue River\, OR. We welcome anyone with an interest in quilts in all their forms and at all skill levels. \nREMEMBER – Membership Packets for the new fiscal year (with badges\, cards\, etc.) will be handed out at the Sign-In Table \n9:00 – Sign-In Table opens where you can: \n\nPick up your ticket for door prizes\nEnter the emoticon drawing (look for it in the current newsletter)\nGet a ticket for each Autumn/Fall colors (gold\, brown\, rust\, etc.) fat quarter you turn in\nPick up a copy of the latest newsletter\, meeting agenda\, and Treasurer’s report.\n\nJust past the Sign-In Table is the Block Party display. Turn in your “Leaping Dolphin” appliqué blocks and/or your pieced blocks that were presented at the July meeting. Across the room is the Quilts of Valor display where you can turn in blocks or quilts you made (just remember to put your name on each QOV item). You can also pick up a pattern or kit for the next QOV project. \nAt the back of the room is the MEG (Machine Embroidery Group) table where you can get information about the group and their upcoming monthly meetings and projects. \n9:30 – In lieu of an Early Bird Class\, national teacher Linda Ballard will be doing a Trunk Show. \n \n10:45 – Lunch is served. Lunch will be potluck so bring a dish to share with the other attendees. As always\, regular and decaf coffee will be available plus hot water and tea bags for those who prefer that. \n11:15 – Business Meeting begins. It includes presentations from the Board and Committee Chairs plus drawings for door prizes\, emoticon\, fat quarters\, and Block Party. \n12:00 (approx.) – Speaker/Presentation.  (To be announced later.) \n12:45 (approx.) – Show and Tell. This will immediately follow the Speaker Presentation. Bring your latest creations to show to the group and remember to state your name when you come up on the stage so we can give you credit when we post the photos of your quilt on the website under Show & Tell. \nAt the conclusion of the meeting we ask that you help put away the tables and chairs.

DESCRIPTION:DIAMOND LAKE RETREAT: Fall at the Lake…Cost $50.00 for members and $100.00 for non- members (meals & accommodations not included). Non-member fee includes $40.00 for an MSQG membership and a $10 processing. \nJoin MSQG at the lake. There may still be snow on the side of the lake so dress in layers… a ton of fun will be had at this fun retreat spot. \nRetreat Host: Lisa Sherrill – sherrillfamily7471@gmail.com or call 541-601-8052 \nThe TEAM: Sam\, Danielle & Kathy \nLocation: Diamond Lake\, 350 Resort Drive\, Diamond Lake\, OR 97731 \nDates: September 24\, 25\, 26 & 27. Set up at 2 PM on Thursday & retreat ends on Sunday.  Can’t make it on Thursday? No worries\, we will see you on Friday or Saturday sometime. \nThursday: At 2 PM set up will begin and once we are all done we can start having a grand time. Dinner for those who come up early and help set up around 6 pm. \nSunday: Start Shutting down at 1 PM and out by 3 PM. If you want to stay\, please clean up the space around you and ensure that you have all your stuff. \nWant to SEW on THURSDAY? Set up will happen on Thursday afternoon. Please join the team at 2 pm to set up and put out all our sewing stuff after everything is arranged in the sewing room. You may bring your equipment in the sewing area (Thielsen Room) AFTER set-up is complete. No sewing until we are all set up! Please stage personal items in the elevator area (Don’t block walkways or elevator doors) on the 2nd floor until the room is set and table lists are out. \nFood and Fellowship \nEnjoy a dinner with the group on Thursday night in the Thielsen room. Lisa will bring a light dinner up to share on Thursday night for those who assisted with set-up. On Friday night\, please join your fellow quilters for a Dutch treat dinner at the restaurant downstairs (pay on your own). Saturday is our traditional Potluck lunch at noon…Bring something to share and I know everything is going to be great. Bring a fun snack to put out on the treat table too for all to enjoy over the retreat. So many yummy things! \nHotel Accommodation: Each attendee is responsible for arranging their own housing at the lake\, and many participants opt to share a rental (cabin\, motel room\, kitchenette studio) with other retreat attendees at the Resort. The Diamond Lake Resort offers many different types of accommodations and different price points. There is an RV park and a campground too if you wish to “rough it”. Some of the attendees bring family members with them too. They are welcome to join us during our potluck on Saturday and during the Dutch Treat Dinner on Friday night. The lake might be frozen still\, but no midges should be flying around. Important Tip: Be sure to call the Diamond Lake Resort directly at 541-793-3333 to make your reservation and mention the quilter’s discount to take advantage of special pricing! (This discount isn’t available for online bookings or through third-party services.) DESCRIPTION:WHO: The mystery instructor has been quilting and teaching for over 34 years (on land and sea) and Mystery Quilts are one of her favorite classes to teach. \nWHAT: Two full days of an instructor-led class\, wonderful lunches & snacks each day\, plus fun mystery games and prizes too. \nWHY: The suspense of not knowing what kind of quilt you’re creating is so much fun and sewing with friends is always a blast! Plus you get the benefits of a retreat without having to book a hotel room or bring food. For those of you who can’t leave pets or loved ones overnight\, this is what you’ve been waiting for! Come make a beautiful mystery quilt in your favorite colors (you’ll have two sizes to choose from). \nSIGN UP FORM: This is a link to the sign up form including pricing information: registration \nSET UP PARTY:  At 6pm on Thursday (the evening before class starts) everyone can bring their sewing machines & supplies so we can set up our stations and be ready for the next day.
