Mountain Stars Quilters Guild offers Educational Classes on a wide range of quilt related topics, techniques and designs from talented national and local instructors. The classes are usually held at the Live Oak Grange (120 Gardiner Street, Rogue River, Oregon) on Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. However, occasionally the schedule and/or venue are different. For example, we try to book at least two Saturday classes each year so that those who work or have weekday commitments can attend. We also hold multiple-day classes occasionally.
Upcoming Classes
Information about specific upcoming classes is published in the bi-monthly MSQG Newsletter and is also available on this website by clicking here: MSQG Classes. This includes a description of the class, a short bio of the instructor, information about class fees and any kit fees, plus a registration form for the class.
After we receive your registration in the mail, we’ll send out a “confirmation” email so you’ll know it was received. If the Supply List is available, it will be included in that email. Otherwise, it will be emailed to you after the instructor has provided the list to us.
For additional information about specific classes or to get answers to questions about Education, please contact the Education Committee Chair, Lisa Marie Sobolik: lisamariesobolik@att.net or 530-598-7357 (mobile number).
Other “Good to Know” Information
- After you register for a class, please add the MSQG Education Committee Chair’s email address to your contact list so you don’t miss receiving important information about a class you’ll be attending.
- All class fees are non-refundable. If you register for a class and are unable to find someone to take your place, contact the Education Committee Chair. If there is a waiting list, they might be able to find someone to take your place at the class. However, you must keep the Education Committee Chair informed so we can maintain an accurate list of attendees.
- Never send cash in the mail! Cash is only accepted in person at our General Business Meetings and Saturday Open Sew events. You’ll always receive a receipt from MSQG when paying for a class with cash.
- Please be aware that it may take several weeks before your check is deposited. Checks are mailed to the Treasurer once each week but the Treasurer does the banking only a few times each month.
- If you register for a class that has a required Kit Fee, you are obligated to purchase the kit – whether or not you end up attending the class. The instructors we hire spend their time and money to prepare these in advance for you. All kit fees will be collected before class begins. Please make checks payable to the Instructor, not to MSQG. If you plan to pay in cash, please bring exact change if possible. Note: Credit/debit cards are not accepted by our instructors at this time.
- Because classes are limited in size, MSQG members are usually told about classes prior to non-members. If there are seats available for a class, non-members can register (at a rate that is slightly higher than the member price – usually $10 more). All attendees pay a slightly higher fee if registering after a specific published date.
- If you have a suggestion for a class or specific teacher, please let the Education Committee Chair know.
