General Membership Meeting – January 2023
January 14, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 2:30 pm
Join us for our General Membership Meeting on Saturday, January 14th, 9:30AM to 2:30PM. The meeting is being held at Live Oak Grange, 120 Gardiner Street, Rogue River, OR. We welcome anyone with an interest in quilts in all their forms and at all skill levels.
9:00 – Sign-In Table opens where you can:
- Pick up your ticket for door prizes
- Enter the emoticon drawing
- Get a ticket for each “Batik (any color)” fat quarter you turn in.
- Get a copy of the latest newsletter and pick up a copy of the meeting agenda and minutes from the last meeting.
- You can also purchase a copy of the Member Directory for $2 each
Just past the Sign-In Table is the Block Party display. Turn in your Year of the Rabbit appliqué blocks and/or your Gift Box pieced blocks that were presented at the November Meeting.
Across the room is the Quilts of Valor display where you can turn in blocks or quilts you made (just remember to put your name on each QOV item). You can also pick up a pattern for the next QOV block.
9:30 – Early Bird Class. MSQG member Kelly Leatherwood will be showing us how to use discharge paste on quilt blocks. The process includes a variety of techniques including stencils, freezer paper, paper and heat to remove the dye from the fabric.
11:00 – Lunch is served. Lunch will be Potluck but, as always, regular and decaf coffee will be available plus hot water and tea bags for those who prefer that.
12:00 – Business Meeting begins. It includes presentations from the Board and committee chairs plus drawings for door prizes, emoticon, fat quarters, and Block Party.
1:00 (approx.) – Speaker/Presentation. (To be announced later).
2:00 (approx.) – Show and Tell. This will immediately follow the Speaker Presentation. Bring your latest creations to show to the group and remember to state your name when you come up on the stage so we can give you credit when we post the photos of your quilt on the website under Show & Tell.
At the conclusion of the meeting we ask that you help put away the tables and chairs.
