Cathy Geier Workshop – Forest Scene

$65In this one day class students will create a landscape featuring birch trees, background and foreground foliage. They will learn how to create a natural foreground, to cut out realistically shaped tree trunks, branches and saplings, and learn how to shade them with dye markers or pastels creating three dimensional effects. Cathy will supply markers and pastels for the students. Kits are required and range from $25 – $30.
Cathy Geier is an award-winning quilter, author and lecturer whose specialty is landscape quilts. She earned her BA in art history from the University of Wisconsin,and sets up her landscapes with the eye of a painter who uses fabrics for her palette. She is the author of two books, Watercolor Landscape Quilts, and Lovely Landscape Quilts. She owns and manages an online quilt shop called Patchworks that Praise, specializing in fabrics for landscape quilting. She has invented and patented a piecing technique using a tear-away foundation, which she then adapted as a strategy for sewing strip and string pieced landscapes.
