Pamela Norton – Wool Appliqué

Come learn how easy it is to create your own beautiful butterfly using wool. You’ll be taught how to correctly cut out wool pieces and how to build up your butterfly using layering techniques. This is all hand work and so easy too! Pamela will be teaching you several stitches that will highlight your butterfly and bring it to life. Your finished project will be approximately 9″ X 12″.

You’ll have your choice of making a common Blue Butterfly, a Monarch, or you can expand your creativity and design your own! There is a nonnegotiable $35 fee for the supplies for this class, however it includes EVERYTHING you’ll need – wool, pearl cotton thread, backing and paper forms. There is nothing left to buy or bring besides basic hand sewing tools and scissors. Pamela will have a variety of color combinations of wool to choose from and matching or contrasting thread to sew with. Payment for the supplies will be made directly to her on the day of her class (check or cash only).

Pamela has been hand sewing for over 60 years. She started by making doll clothes for her three daughters, then it grew into making their clothing and all the accessories by hand! She was known for the beautiful, smocked dresses she created. After learning needlepoint in the ‘70’s, she was off and running with new skills and a desire to learn new exciting things. When Pamela moved to Ashland in 2014 she learned how to make Wool Appliqué with Karen Bates at Sew Creative. Her life was now complete! Totally hooked, she made a large number of sample hangings for the walls at the shop. Pamela was one of our “Featured Quilters” at the MSQG Quilt Show in 2024. She hopes you get hooked on Wool Appliqué too.
