Valentine’s Day, All Things Hearts, or Something Red

Quilt Maker:  Katie Gomez

Quilt Name:  For My Sister

Quilt Information:  I made this for my sister while she was going through breast cancer treatment. As I quilted it, I quilted a positive saying onto each kitty. I don’t remember the year I made it.

Quilt Name:  For Maude

Quilt Information:  I saw a block in a magazine and liked it. The center medallion was made and then I was to wait for the next magazine for the next round of blocks. The next day I learned that my friend Maude was having breast cancer surgery. So I gathered all my pinks and made this quilt top. Grandma Mitchel was able to quilt Peace Signs all over it. I drove to Eugene and gave it to her just after her surgery.

Quilt Maker:  Ellen Eastman

Quilt Name:  Anthurium – Flowers That Never Fade

Quilt Information:  This Pacific Rim Quilt Company pattern is very versatile. You can also put Heliconia, Orchid or Torch Ginger in your vase. I love the Anthurium; I feel they look like abstract hearts.

Quilt Maker:  Ellen Eastman

Quilt Name:  February Table Runner

Quilt Information:  From the book, Table Runners of the Month, February with cotton piecing and wool hearts.

 Quilt Maker:  Anna DeHoog

Quilt Name:  Loved

Quilt Information:  This quilt was my own pattern. It was made in honor of Girl Scout Troop 146. I absolutely loved these girls and I hope that they learned the power of positive self-talk. Each girl have a word “worthy” “loved”, “valued” “smart” and more. The quilt was made with recycled fabric samples (only as a Girl Scout would make such a thing!)

Quilt Name:  Hearts for My Baby

Quilt Information:  February is valentines and love. This is the first “real” quilt I ever made. I was very pregnant with Joey Malloy (1996) at the time. It’s all calicos. I’m currently replacing the binding as I’ve washed it 1 million times.

Quilt Name:  Ms. Ruby

Quilt Information:  I started this quilt for a friend with many health issues. When the doctors figured out what was going on, they realized she was riddled with cancer and she passed before I finished it. I gave it to her daughter in about 2007 shortly after Ms. Ruby’s passing. Pattern: Heart and Soul by Quilt Queen Design.  Size: 55”x69”.
