St. Patrick’s Day, Mad for Plaid, or Something Green
Quilt Maker: Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name: Teddy Goes to Ireland
Quilt Information: This quilt is from the “Road to Ireland” pattern by M’Lissa Hawley’s book, Fat Quarter Quilts. It was machine pieced and quilted in 2003 using Teddy Bear fabric and freehand teddy bears in diagonal squares. It was made for my “very Irish” cousin’s first grandson.
Quilt Maker: Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name: Pat & Pete’s Plaid Play
Quilt Information: This was machine pieced and quilted using 100% cotton designer fabric samples. One of my first quilts, I wanted to “play” with a variety of fabrics and colors. I thought it would make a nice Britt blanket for my friends. Pat loved to celebrate her Irish heritage by preparing a traditional corned beef & cabbage dinner for friends on St. Patrick’s Day.
Quilt Maker: Vonnie Beck
Quilt Name: Celtic Mystery
Quilt Information: These were blocks left over from a quilt I made a couple of years ago. The blocks are from “Easy Stack Quilts” by Paula Doyle. Like kaleidoscope quilts, the pattern changes as you put the squares together. When I look at the finished blocks they appear to have morphed into circles.
Quilt Maker: Katie Gomez
Quilt Name: Mad For Plaid Meets Cindy
Quilt Information: This 16″ pillow started out as an orphan block. I learned lots in the process. Use a more contrasting thread on quilting. 5 hearts and 2 of Cindy Needham’s medallion stencils needed a better marking tool.
Quilt Maker: Chris Sellman
Quilt Name: National Quilt Museum’s BOM Round 2
Quilt Information: One of the few green quilts I’ve made is the National Quilt Museum’s BOM Round 2. I’ve enjoyed the variety of techniques. They add interest and introduce me to different skills. It was quilted by Linda Frisbey.

Quilt Information: Tis not green, but the pattern (in white) is called Road to Ireland. This onw was quite a challenge for me. But I finished and gifted to a friend.
Quilt Maker: Sandy Speasl

Quilt Information: The only green quilt I have — hung next to the Christmas poinsettia that refuses to die.
Quilt Maker: Ellen Eastman
Quilt Name: Irish Snowman
Quilt Information: Sadly I don’t have a “green” quilt of any kind- but I do have an Irish snowman made with wool. Attic Heirlooms pattern from 2020. It is my favorite.
Quilt Maker: Susan Tresner
Quilt Name: Oopsie Daisy
Quilt Information: I updated this mighty mini from 2013 to show I’m Keen for Green! Now if I can just keep it hidden from the cat.
Quilt Maker: Peggy Payne
Quilt Name: Four Patch Madness
Quilt Information: This was another quilt made from a Fiber Legends pattern. It looks a lot more complicated to make than it actually was.
