“Mom, Mother, Ma” or “May Flowers”
Quilt Maker: Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name: Waiting for Spring
Quilt Information: (45″ x 45″) – Started in Spring 1998 with a single flower pattern from MSQG Spring Newsletter, I wanted to see how a variety of fabric combinations would look in the flowers and then ways to put them together. It was also a long winter in the mountains where I lived with snow every day for months. I needed a project to lift my spirits and help me realize that Spring was coming. I finished it in time for my mother-in-law’s birthday in July.

Quilt Name: Thank You Mom…
Quilt Information: We made this quilt for our mother when we were first learning to quilt (hence the poor workmanship). But even though it isn’t very well made, it was made with love and was our way of thanking our mom for all the wonderful things she did for us over the years. Things like “…praising my accomplishments”, “…setting a good example”, “…hugging me when I needed it most”, “…crying with me at sad movies”, and “…working to pay for my braces”. She loved the quilt and didn’t seem to mind at all that it wasn’t perfect.
