“These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things”

Quilt Maker:  Terri Budesa
Quilt Name:
Peppermint Patty
Quilt Information:
One of my favorite things is red & white quilts. I decided it was high time to make one of my own. The pattern is Dragon Star by Quiltworx and it was quilted by Janet Wilson.

Quilt Maker:  Vonnie Beck
Quilt Name:  Yuletide Scrappy
Quilt Information:  This lap quilt was made from the left over fabrics of two other lap quilts which were made from a tower of flannel fat quarters I found called “Yuletide Gatherings”, from Moda, designed by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings. I made all 3 with flannel, front and back, and wool batting. There’s nothing much better than reading or hand sewing under a warm quilt this time of year. One quilt went to our son-in-law, one to our oldest grandson’s wife and I think this one will just be mine! 🙂

Quilt Maker:  Carole Leaverton
Quilt Name:  Moose on the Loose
Quilt Information:  Made for my son and daughter-in-law for their November birthdays.  We have a family running joke about Moose after my daughter-in-law thought she saw one when we were driving near Diamond Lake about fifteen years ago.  Turned out after I turned the car around and remembered there are no moose in Oregon, that what she saw was just some downed trees.  So every holidays they get at least one moose item.

Quilt Maker:  Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name:  Make a Joyful Noise
Quilt Information:  Holiday music is one of my favorite things at Christmas, from oratorios to carols to popular tunes.  This was started in 2001 in Feathered Star Class with Marsha McClosky and finished in 2006 (the top at the May 2006 MSQG Diamond Lake retreat) just in time for a niece’s graduation from a nursing doctoral program. The musical themed fabric seemed appropriate for this accomplished woman, who plays the violin and also has a degree in musical therapy.

Quilt Maker:  Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name:  Holiday Aprons
Quilt Information:  Another holiday favorite is the wonderful array (and aromas) of cookies, pies and other sweets.  I made these aprons in 2015 for our two granddaughters to use when they and their mother joined me to bake cookies.  It was our first Christmas together in our Ashland home.  The Christmas hankies were mine when I was a child.

Quilt Maker:  Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name:  Have a Beary Christmas
Quilt Information:  I won the bear fabric squares & other fabrics as a door prize at a MSQG meeting and saved them for just the right child – a cousin’s granddaughter born Christmas Eve 2019.

Quilt Maker:  Elaine Shanafelt
Quilt Name:  Traffic Jam
Quilt Information:  Seeing the joy of children at play is definitely one of my favorite things and this quilt reminds me of that. From Kathy Sandback’s book, Show Me How to Machine Quilt, “Two-Way Traffic” pattern, this quilt was made in 2011 for a grand-nephew.

Quilt Maker:  Katie Gomez
Quilt Name:  Humm Purrr
Quilt Information:  I was on a roll to finish one UFO a month. This month I decided my favorite thing is CATS and quilts on my walls. This is one I created with a Batik I made in 1977 and made a quilted wall hanging in 2014

Quilt Maker:  Katie Gomez
Quilt Name:  Let’s Play Ball
Quilt Information:  Another favorite is this one I created in 2013 with hand dyed Ricky Tims fabric.

Quilt Maker:  Katie Gomez
Quilt Name:  Lucy
Quilt Information:  Another favorite for many people besides me is created in 2016. I took a Susan Carlson class to learn this appliqué technique.

Quilt Maker:  Ellen Eastman
Quilt Name:  Emmitt’s Stocking
Quilt Information:  I have made a Christmas stocking for each family member (and sometimes boyfriends) for years. This is Emmitt’s first Christmas and I used patterns from Makenna Ryan, Thimbleberries and Wooly Block Neighborhood to create this. The stocking is from Thimbleberries. I made my first stockings years ago from this and really did not realize how large it is. It almost blows the gift budget just to fill them!

Quilt Maker:  Ellen Eastman
Quilt Name:  Ornaments
Quilt Information:  I have been having fun this year making wool ornaments to attach to Christmas presents. I like to attach a tree ornament to each person’s gift.
Patterns from Attic Heirlooms

Quilt Maker:  Vonnie Beck
Quilt Name:  BOM 2 Block 1
Quilt Information:  I really like this pattern. Thought if I make it in Christmas fabrics, it’ll be finished by next Christmas.

Quilt Maker:  Peggy Payne
Quilt Name:  Graham Crackers and Lemonade
Quilt Information:  When I was a kid one of my favorite things was eating graham crackers with lemonade (yes, I was that weird kid). When I started working on this quilt for Fiber Legends that’s what popped into my head because of the fabric colors we chose – so that’s what I decided to call the pattern. And whenever I use the quilt, it makes me smile and remember being a goofy kid.
